These Tips Will Help You Be Better At Fishing

One of the best outdoor sports for all ages is fishing. Wherever you are, there are probably great spots to fish close by. Check out the fishing hints and tricks in this article and see if there is something new for you to try so that you can enjoy fishing even more.

It's crucial to know how one cleans a fish correctly. You need a cutting table and small knife. Slit the belly of the fish from under the jaw down to the tail. Remove the head and separate it from the organs by pulling each side in the opposite direction. You should end up with a clean and open fish.

If you are taking children on a fishing trip, ensure that they have equipment that is designed for their size. Don't think children can catch fish with rods bigger than they are!

Depending upon the kind of fish that you hope to land, you may need to use a different hook size than you are used to working with. Hooks are sized using a number system; larger hooks have smaller numbers and smaller hooks have larger numbers. Large hooks are good for fish like bass and walleye, and smaller hooks are perfect for perch.

Try casting techniques that can have your lure landing on the water without being too loud. If your lure makes a loud noise when it hits the surface of the water, it will actually scare fish away, rather than attract them. To ensure the lure is as quiet as possible, try using only your wrist when you cast the rod.

Learning about how different fish react to different temperatures is a great tip to use when fishing. Fish tend to thrive in various temperatures. If you are going to be fishing for specific fish, you need to keep this in mind. Plan your fishing trips for days when the water temperature will be conducive to your fish. This will greatly increase your success in fishing.

Before you set out on your next fishing trip, it is best to consult a forecast to ascertain expected weather conditions. Getting caught in a severe storm in open water can be dangerous. Always view the weather report prior to embarking on a fishing excursion.

Wet the line before tying a knot. This fortifies the knot and cuts down on friction caused by the process of tying the knot. Use a knot such as the double fisherman or clinch knot.

Use a different method when you fish at night than when you fish during the day. Fishing at night can prove to be extremely rewarding when done right. When fishing for certain species, such as small-mouthed bass, you should use heavier tackle in order to experience a sturdier feeling for where your lure is at in the water. You can use lures such as plastic worms or pork rinds are good choices when you are night fishing. Single lures can also be very helpful in minimizing tangles.

An awesome fishing tip is to ask locals what method is the best for catching fish. The joy of fishing is about sharing information with fellow fishermen, such as what bait is popular, or where the fish are biting because fishing techniques change throughout the season.

If you plan to fish from a boat, you should pack accordingly. Do not overlook important items like a flashlight, mobile device and first-aid kit. It is essential that you always exercise safety when fishing on open water. Under certain circumstances, one or all of these items could be the only thing ensuring your safe return.

Fishing is a most enjoyable activity that will give you back what you put into it, for the most part. Whether you want to make fishing a relaxing pastime or a competitive performance, there is a lot more advice for you waiting out there. Always remember to keep an eye out for new fishing techniques.

How To Choose The Right Fishing Rod

Nothing is more important to a fisherman than his rod. However, for the beginner fisherman it can be difficult to determine what rod will work best for them. So I've taken the time to create this blog post to hopefully shine some light on fishing rods, and more importantly, how to choose the right one for you.

Fishing rods are almost always made from some type of carbon. These can be carbon-based plastics, carbon composites combined with Kevlar, or just high density carbon. Because carbon is relatively light and yet very strong it's a great material to use with fishing rods. This is because fishing rods need to be light. The lighter fishing rod, the easier it is to handle, controlling it is less tiring on the arm muscles, and they're also easier to cast.

Fishing rods also have rings made from chrome, silicon carbide, or ceramic. These rings let the fishing line pass through them, and they're made from these materials to give a friction free surface for the line. As to what type of rod you should get with what type of ring, the silicon-based rings are always going to be the best, but they're the most expensive. Ceramic rings are the second best, and chrome rings are a good alternative to pick if you can't find the other two.

When you're trying to figure out the length of the rod you want to use, you need to take into account the type of fishing that you are going to be engaging in. If you're going to be fishing far away from the boat or where you're standing, you should get a longer rod because this will give you better control when reeling in the fish. If you're going to be fishing in a small area you should get a smaller rod. A general rule of thumb for the best rod size for all types of fishing is about 13 feet.

Rod handles are to made either from foam or they are going to be made from cork. However, it doesn't really matter what type of handle you choose. It really comes down to a matter of personal preference. You should go to your local fishing shopping try handling both types of materials so you can see which one you like before actually purchasing a rod.

Action is the term used in fishing to describe how the rod will bend when it is placed under effort and strain from a fighting fish. Some fishermen like their rod to have a lot of action, while others prefer a stiffer rod. You won't really know which type you prefer until you get out there and actually begin to fish. So before purchasing a rod on your own, it is recommended that you tag along with the fishing buddy and try out various types of rods for yourself.

There Are Some Hidden Benefits Of Fishing

Fishing is a great hobby that anyone can enjoy and that is appealing in many ways. Anyone can enjoy the peaceful distraction of fishing, and if you're a fan then you don't need to tell me how addictive it can be and how satisfying it is too reel in a big catch.

But then there are some other hidden benefits of fishing too that you might be less aware of. Fishing is good for you and your lifestyle in many ways, so let's look at some of the hidden advantages you're probably enjoying without even realizing it.

Health

Fishing is good for your health in more ways than one. Of course the fact that you're outside means that you're getting fresh air and lots of sun and this is obviously going to be good for you in a number of ways. Then there's the psychological advantage of getting some alone time with your thoughts and with no pressures or stresses - turning off your phone and just enjoying your surroundings is incredibly good for your psychological well-being and your blood pressure and it's something that many of us don't do enough.

Then though there's also the benefit of the fish - if you eat any of what you catch that is. Fish are filled with proteins, are low in fat and are high in essential fatty acids which makes them good for your joints, skin and even your brain.

Time

Fishing is brilliant because it doesn't require your full attention. Once you've set up the line you can then just sit by it and wait for the bite which of course means you have your hands and your attention free. That makes it the perfect opportunity to catch up on some reading if you need to, to call friends and manage your correspondence or to read the morning paper. If you struggle to get a moment to yourself, then fishing is the perfect excuse to be left alone with your thoughts.

Though that said, if you want to go with a partner or a friend then this is also a great way to get some quality time with them and to have a catch-up.

Scenery

If you're fishing then that means you'll be going to lots of scenic locations and enjoying a great view. Make sure that you don't squander this and just focus on the fish - drink in your surroundings and enjoy the fact that you're somewhere beautiful.

In fact you can also take this opportunity to engage in an artistic pursuit which could mean sketching or painting your surroundings, or maybe doing some photography. At the same time though, if you're someone who travels a lot, then fishing will give you a great way to experience the new destination and a great activity that you can enjoy in any country to get more from your holiday.

Conversation

When you meet a fellow fisher, you'll find that it's almost like being a member of an exclusive club and instantly you'll have loads to talk about and you'll find that you make fast friends. A great way to break the ice and get chatting to strangers.

How To Buy The Best Fishing Rods

I hate when someone comes up to me and asks me what type of fishing rod should they buy? So many times I feel like screaming at them "how the hell should I know!" its kind of like a complete stranger asking you what food should they eat? Without knowledge of what they like, any allergies and how much they want to spend its very hard to answer this question. Buying a fishing rod is no different but it is very exact depending on your use for it. There are so many choices but this choice may not be all that difficult if you know what you are looking for. Remember that different types of fishing require different types of tackle and you would not use a fishing rod designed for Tuna when you are fishing for Trout.

If you are a beginning fisherman there are quite a few inexpensive choices you can make and most of them won't break the bank. Pretty much any tackle store or Walmart will have what you need, but if you are a tournament angler or somewhere in between your choices will need to include a few more factors. Do you travel to your fishing grounds? Do you fish from shore, a pier or do you own a boat? Basically, the more often you fish and the type of fishing you do should determine the quality of the rod you purchase. This fishing rod should also fit your fishing style, such as a rod that breaks down into 2 or more sections if you travel, a longer rod if you fish from piers or the surf or one with specialized guides if you troll from a boat.

Although there are some rods that can do double duty for several species of fish and are adequate for both fresh and saltwater it is quite often about the experience of the angler that determines how much wiggle room you have with your rod and reel. But this doesn't mean you can use a tuna stick for trout or visa versa.

Most fishing rods are designed to accommodate either a spinning reel, conventional reel or baitcasting reel and again the choice comes down to what you are planning on fishing for. If you are fishing for crappie on your local lake you may choose a spinning reel and matching rod for this type of fishing, taking into consideration that lighter line will give you a better feel for any bites and working a jig or lure. Match the rod to the reel to the line for the species and water conditions! For large offshore species you may need to sacrifice some sensitivity for a rod with backbone and a reel with a smooth drag and capable of holding a large quantity of quality fishing line. I will say it again and again, the key is to match all the equipment to the target species. Often the equipment used for a great many species will overlap and you can use the same tackle with only minor tweaking. For those on a budget this is an important consideration.

So now as you narrow down where you are most likely to fish and what types of fish you are most likely to target, you now need to consider what techniques you enjoy using to fish for them. My brother only uses live bait and I prefer to use artificial lures most of the time so we both have to tailor our tackle to these individual techniques. With live bait he needs a more sensitive rod to feel the bait or fish indicating an imminent strike, while I need a rod that allows me to cast repeatedly and work my lure with maximum action and efficiency.

Most rods will be made out of either fiberglass or graphite. Fiberglass has been the tried and true material but will be a bit thicker in diameter for similar strength and reliability. Graphite is the overwhelming winner when more sensitivity is needed. Fiberglass is probably a bit heavier that graphite but the difference is not so great as to make it a deciding factor. Balance and action are the important factors. Rods are considered to have a fast, moderate-fast, moderate or slow-action, much of the action is dependant more on the taper and construction of the Fishing rod that the material used. A rod that flexes mostly near the tip is said to have an Xtra-Fast taper, while a rod which seems to flex over the entire length of the rod employs a Slow taper.

So now that you have a lot of the information you need to purchase a fishing rod, and keeping in mind that the wonderful people at your local tackle shop or outdoors superstore will be able to guide you in your choice, its time to make a choice. If price and durability is a factor than look towards the less expensive fiberglass, if you need increased sensitivity and can afford it, look into graphite. But again, it really comes down to a balanced outfit and what you are most comfortable with. Many rods will serve your purpose but only a few will really feel like a great fit.

Ice Fishing Tips For The Beginners

The amount of money needed for ice fishing really depends upon two issues: how warm you want to be, and how much work you are willing to do. If you don't mind the cold, and you like manual labor, you won't have to spend much to get started. But if you want to stay warm and take it easy, it's going to cost more.

In addition to the gear that you need to stay safe, you may be able to get by with layers of warm clothing, warm socks and boots, and a five-gallon plastic bucket to sit on. But if you are sensitive to the cold, consider an ice shelter with a stove to add some heat and cook your lunch. You can pass the coldest days in relative comfort.

One of the working parts of the sport involves cutting holes in the ice. If the ice isn't too thick, you can use a hand auger. With really thick ice, the better alternative is a power ice auger. You are also going to need an ice skimmer, to keep the hole open and clear of ice. You may also want to invest in an electronic fish finder specifically designed for ice fishing. They make it much easier to determine if you are in a good spot, so you will spend less time and effort cutting holes.

Since no casting is involved, the tackle used for ice fishing is surprisingly simple. If you are chasing panfish, all you need is a very small jigging rod. Some have nothing more than a spool attached for storing line. You can also move up to a miniature spinning rod and reel. In either case use monofilament line specially designed for cold weather. For pan fish very light line, nothing more than two to four-pound test is best. Tear drop jigs baited with wax worms, minnows, or bits of night crawlers, are very popular. With natural bait, you will need a bobber. With a float, set the hook with any movement. A spring bobber is attached to the end of your rod. When it bends even slightly, set the hook. In winter fish are lethargic, so their bite will be extremely light.

If you are pursuing larger prey like walleyes or pike, a tip-up is best. It consists of a pedestal that fits over the hole in the ice attached to a mast that extends down into the water with a spool of line. Above the water, a spring with a flag is set in a release. You bait the tip-up with a decent sized minnow, shiner, or chub. When a fish takes the bait, the flag is released and you pull the fish up, hand over hand.

Latest Fishing Technology and Fishing Gears

But of course, this is not news because many different companies have developed their own ultrasound-like fish finding gadgets a long time ago. But Maptech's new i3 module is the first of its kind. It's the first ever touch screen, hi-resolution 3D Fishfinger. Yes, you can literally see the kind of fish that's swimming around under your boat, in super clear images and in real time.
The i3 Touch Screen command on the fishing gadget can help you navigate the floor of the lake or sea with a radar, combine it with satellite communication and a weather report too.
This is an absolutely MUST for those who seriously looking into easy-fishing.
Monofilament fishing lines
There's absolutely nothing worse than to have a fish on the hook and have the line snap! Well, no more snapping of fishing line with the latest development in monofilament fishing lines. Monofilament fishing lines come in a wide range of colors, sizes, thickness and strength. Although it's stronger than some of the other more conventional fishing lines, they are cheaper. Monofilament fishing lines comes with special coating that keeps them from snapping easily. The only thing is that they don't stretch as good as other types of fishing lines but they make up for it with their bulk and strength.
Lowrance Fish-Finders - The Best in Fishing Technology
The Lowrance Fish-Finder is the very same brand that my grandfather trusted, and my father does. Both loved to fish, but both were impatient and wanted to know where the fish were. The Lowrance Fish-Finder, always at the top of the technology game, worked the best for them. (I am sure it was all that kept them from using a quarter stick of TNT)
My grandfather loved new technology, having worked for McDonnell Douglas, and on the Apollo missions. (I have the NASA pens to prove that. ) Before that he served in the U.S. Navy, So when he said that Lowrance was the best product for the price. Grandpa had a much older unit, actually he had a few in his time but the last was the Lowrance X 15. If he were still with us I know he would have the H.D.S.8. Just like I do.
My dad on the other hand often uses his Lowrance H.D.S.7 to pre-load routes before a long fishing trip, He then would edit them while we were underway. The Lowrance H.D.S.7 allows Dad to store routes for future use.
While pop's (my step father) Loves the Lowrance H.D.S.10 it is perfect for his fishing boat with the built-in cartography choices including Enhanced U.S. Base map and Coastal coverage of the U.S. and the Navionics (R) World Background map (non-Americas) both very useful to him.

You Will Need These Necessary Fly Fishing Equipments

If your hobby is fly fishing, you should be familiar with some types of fly fishing equipment that will be needed. There are four types of equipment that you will need when you decide to fly fishing: the rod, the fishing reel, the fly and the clothes. Before it is explained about those four equipments, it is essential to know that fishing in fresh water will need different types of fly fishing equipment compared to salt or sea water fly fishing. The difference is on the level of water pressure in fresh water and salt water. Fresh water has lesser pressure than salt water so the fishing equipment is also different.

The first fly fishing equipment that you should have when you want to go fishing in salt water is fishing rod. Talking about fishing rod, there are several types of materials used in making it. The first material as well as the oldest one that is known was wood fishing rod. This type of rod was the sturdiest material among others since it was made of wood. After wood as the first fishing rod material, there was bamboo fishing rood that was eminent for its strength. Bamboo fishing rod also could increase the quality of fishing experience.

The next type of fishing rod as one of four fly fishing equipment is fiberglass. Almost the same as wood and bamboo fishing rod, fiberglass also gives weight to the rod while it still can maintain its flexibility. Then, in choosing fishing rod materials you should consider the smoothness of the cast that is given by each type of fishing rod. For instance, fast action rods that give flexibility on the tip, medium action rods that give flexibility in its half of length along with the right to the other end of the scale and slow action rods that give flexibility along its length.

The second fly fishing equipment you should purchase is fishing reel. The same as fishing rod, fishing in fresh water will need different type of fishing reel compared to fishing in salt water. Fishing in salt water needs stronger fishing reel than fishing in fresh water. Moreover, if you decide to buy fishing reel, it is advisable to buy it along with the fishing rod since both of them should matched each other in order to give the best performance of fly fishing. It does not matter if you already have a rod since you can take it to the shop in order to buy the appropriate fly reel.

The third fly fishing equipment that should be owned by an angler is the fly. There are copious types of flies you can choose as your bait in fly fishing and each type of fly is made to catch different type of fish. For instance, if you want to catch a trout the type of fly that you need will be different if you want to catch a salmon. As there are many choices of flies, it is better to decide which type of fish you want to catch so the type of fly will be based on the type of fish.

The fourth fly fishing equipment to be owned is the clothes. Although having special clothes to catch fish is not a requirement that should be fulfilled, it is useful to have one since you will enjoy your fishing time if you are warm and dry. It is usually cold and windy if you catch fish in salt water. You can wear your own clothes to keep your body warm but those clothes have different materials with clothes that are especially made to catch fish. Finally, having those four types of fly fishing equipment is crucial if you want to go fishing.

Some Salmon Fishing Tips You Should Know

Salmon fishing is undoubtedly one of life's greatest pleasures. Not only does it provide fantastic scenery but also pure excitement and that challenge that keeps many salmon fishermen returning time and again. Every now and again, though, you have to be able to actually land a big one, and there's not an angler alive that doesn't have secret salmon fishing tips and techniques.
Salmon Fishing Tips:
There are almost as many salmon fishing tips and techniques as there are fishermen, but some basic modes are common among them:
Salmon Fly Fishing: By far the most challenging—and invigorating—method of catching salmon, fly fishing requires patience, a delicate touch, and finesse. Most people who fly fish try for trout and usually succeed, but those who try for salmon and succeed often are a rare breed. Most salmon anglers use bait or spoons, which is fine; there's nothing wrong with that. But if Ultimate Bragging Rights are sought, use fly-casting.
Salmon don't bite flies. No, they don't. Salmon are very territorial and aggressive in defending theirs. They don't like the interloper in their waters, so they lunge at it. Because they don't actively seek to ingest the fly, it creates an exquisite timing issue—one of the justifications for those bragging rights. Anybody, with a bit of luck, can snag a fish with food bait, but not everyone can land a salmon with a fly.
The most important of the salmon fishing tips is to use life-like flies. They must look exactly like the insects to have any skill-chance of working.
The second most important of the salmon fishing tips list for fly fishing is movement. Keep those flies hovering, moving, and darting to and fro before they hit the water. If you really have the salmon's attention, the fly may not get wet before it's attacked. What a great feeling that is! Try different lures in different water speeds. Salmon will react differently to the same lure, spoon, bait or fly in slow, deep waters than they will in shallow, fast-moving streams and

Some Useful Fishing Tips To Improve Your Catch

Fishing is an activity you can engage in on quite a few levels. You can go fishing with nothing but the most basic of rods or head out with a minivan full of equipment. Whatever the case the chances of a good catch are not necessarily determined by how good you are as a fisherman. Instead your catch can depend on a variety factors, from where you are fishing, the seasons and just pure luck. This is why it's always best to keep some valuable fishing tips on the top of your mind.
A good fishing tip is where to fish for the best catch. With that end result in mind, we need to understand the weather and understand the effects it has on fishing. For example wind can push the bait further away from shore and the bait will be followed by game fish. Thus a good fishing tip where the wind is concerned is to cast the bait into the wind. A cold front can also affect fishing as the fish respond to the changes in the atmosphere and usually the catch will be poor after a storm has passed. Therefore another good fishing tip is to avoid going out fishing immediately after a storm for the catch is bound to be lighter than would otherwise be the case.
Fishing tips when rain is involved revolve around the severity of the rain. A light rain will shatter the view a fish would have of the surface and render it unable to see you. Heavy rain on the other hand can end up muddying the water and making it hard for the fish to find the bait or the lure.
Meanwhile the level of saltwater as well as tides plays a role in deciding whether it's a good time to fish or not. Another good fishing tip is to fish on a rising or falling tide as a dead high or a dead low tide situation will see little movement and as a result few fish will be caught. But tides don't always come and go like clockwork and as such it is advisable to find out the time for high and low tides before setting off to fish.
Yet another valuable fishing tip is to find out where there is plenty of food. Birds especially gather around areas where there are plenty of fish so if you see the birds darting in and out with prized catches of their own, the chances of you getting yourself a noteworthy catch are also quite high.

Different Types Of Boat Fishing Specialize Boat Requirements

boat fishing
It's important to realize, though, that there are lots of different types of boat fishing, and each one has specialized boat requirements. You can do everything from dangle some bait on a string over the side of a canoe, right through to high-tech rods and a powerful cabin cruiser. It just needs to be seaworthy - the rest is up to you! But if you're keen to buy a boat, you need to do some homework first. It can be very confusing walking into a boat show or dealership and seeing so many choices. You need to think about what you're planning to do with the boat before you can decide which one to buy. Here are some popular boat fishing choices.

Freshwater Boats

If you enjoy fishing in freshwater lakes, rivers or streams, then you don't need a massive boat. Instead, choose an aluminum or fiberglass boat. Make sure it's easy to transport and lightweight. Popular choices include bow riders, runabouts or walley boats, with either a small or dual console. These boats are fine for family freshwater boat fishing outings.

Offshore Saltwater Boats

Fishing out on the open sea is the most common thing people think of when you mention boat fishing. Most people enjoy fishing offshore because they get the chance to catch huge fish and use heavy tackle. It's important to have a dependable, heavy boat for this type of fishing. You'll encounter plenty of different weather and situations on the open sea, so you need to be able to rely on your boat. You can choose twin or single outboard motors, and you definitely need a cuddy cabin or a center console. If you want to spend a bit more, you can start to look at the more luxurious boats, including a bluewater or convertible with luxury quarters, and maybe even an elegant living area. Bigger boats generally have powerful inboard diesel engines as standard.

If you decide to try a head boat, follow these general rules for success:

Avoid the half day trips if possible. Time constraints prevent the half day boat from reaching the better fishing grounds.

Arrive early and get to the back or stern of the boat. Usually, it is first come, fist served when boarding the boat.

Ask whether the captain and or crew will be fishing.

Listen to what the mates tell you. Follow their instructions; they want you to catch fish.

If time permits, go to the dock several times and see the catch before you decide to go on a particular boat.

Try these tips and see if you catch more fish! Good luck and good fishin'!

It Is A Pleasure To Make The Homemade Fish Bait

The most popular homemade fish bait are probably "Doughballs." They're easy and inexpensive to make, and easy to put on your hook. Doughballs are probably my favorite homemade fish bait. You can simply mix together pieces of old white bread and tuna juice to make tasty doughballs the fish will snap your hook after. Or, buy some cheap, premade dough at your local grocery store. Make up one-inch round balls out of the dough. Then, place them in a sealable container and pour tuna juice over them.

Homemade Fish Bait
Allow them to soak until you're ready to use them. To make a tastier treat for the fish, mix in some cheap shredded cheese. It also gives the doughballs a nice, bright orange color that will help attract the fish by sight.

You can make and experiment with many different ingredients for doughballs. I've used flour, cereals, peanut butter, hamburger, ground sausage, bacon bits, bologna, cheap canned cat food, and a variety of other ingredients to make my homemade doughballs. Just make sure that, whatever recipe you come up with, the dough is firm enough to shape into balls.

Then, to use doughballs as a homemade fish bait, simply mold one around your hook and cast it into the water. If you don't get a hit within several minutes, the doughball will become soggy and fall off your hook. But, that's usually not the case. Usually, some hungry fish will come along and devour the entire doughball while it's still on your hook.

How To Make Catfish Bait - Homemade Recipes

The simplest of all cat fish bait recipes is the age-old hot dog. Simply cut up the hot dogs into one inch slices and push them up into a treble hook. Now you can stop there, but one of my favorite additions to the old hot dog catfish bait is to get a mason jar several days before going fishing and putting the cut up (one inch slices) hot dogs into the mason jar. Then thoroughly cover the hot dogs with garlic salt. Put on the lid, shake the jar ever so often and keep in the fridge until ready to go fishing. Cats love 'em and I'm sure you will too.

Next on the list of catfish bait recipes is the grand-daddy of all catfish baits, and that is the time-tested chicken liver. People have been catching catfish on chicken livers since the beginning of time. The only problem with using them is that they are slimy and fall off the hook easily when casting out into the rivers and lakes. So here's a simple 20th century fix that will keep those chicken livers on the hook.

If you own a dehydrator, you just cut out some wax paper to fit your dehydrator trays and then lay out the chicken livers flat onto the wax paper on the trays. The chicken livers will take about three days total to dry out. You want them to dry to the consistency of beef jerky, pliable yet dried. Is Your Fishing Rod The Right Kind To Land The Big One

If you are contemplating the purchase of a new fly fishing rod, you may think you already know exactly what it is that you want to purchase. However, if you are unsure as to what is the best way to go about deciding on your investment, consider the information below before making your purchase.

The 4WD is packed, the family is ready to go, and the fish are biting along the coast. What a dream! But is your fishing rod and tackle the right kind to land the big one? We offer advice on choosing the right surf fishing rod.

There are numerous considerations when buying the right gear for surf fishing including – wait for it - your age. That’s great isn’t it – even fishing can make you feel older.

Basically, you have three categories of surf fishing rods from which to choose: lure rod, bait rod, and a combination of the two.

Bait rods can be used for casting lures, but they are primarily designed for fishing with bait.

Rods with medium actions and fairly stiff tips make good tools for casting the heavy sinkers and large baits used in surf fishing.

Avoid using fishing rods with soft bendy tips because they tend to over bend on the cast. This diffuses the power from the cast, decreasing the speed of the bait as it leaves the rod tip. The end result is a shorter cast, which is not what you are after. The aim is to fish with a rod that will help you achieve your best possible casting distance.

Are you looking for new fishing rod? Do you need a high end fishing rod model or a budget fishing rod to start with? With many models to choose from, the guide below will help you research for the best fishing rod to fit your needs.

Lure Fishing Is A Great Way Of Catching Fish Species

Lure Fishing
Catching fish depends on many factors – where and when you're fishing, the time of day, the season and weather, your experience level and your equipment. While anyone can wet a line and eventually get a bite, learning some basics about fishing technique will greatly increase your chances. You can have the best fishing rod and reel in your hands, but unless you know how to rig your tackle, how to cast, and work your lure or bait in the specific waters your fishing, at the end of the day, you'll just have a nice rod and reel in your hands.

Lure Fishing/Spinning

Lure fishing is a great way of catching a whole range of fish species from trout to tuna and bream to barramundi, although there are any different styles of lures available they are all designed for a different use.

Minnow Style Lures

These are the lures that look like a small fish with a metal or plastic bib that protrudes from the bottom jaw of the lure, this is what gives the lure its action. Minnow lures come in a huge range of shapes and sizes aimed at catching a wide range of fish, they are ideal for nearly all trolling and casting purposes. eg; Barramundi, tuna, mackeral, flathead, bream, cod, trout, tailor and salmon.

Soft Plastic Lures

These lures catch a wide range of fish in fact almost every fish that will eat a hard lure will eat a soft plastic, this is especially so with species such as flathead. Soft plastic lures have several great features that make them stand out from other lures. The main ones being that with the lures being soft when a fish grabs the lure it feel natural so if it misses the hook on the first attempt it is more likely to try and eat the lure again.

Other great features of soft plastic lures include that when they are fished slowly the rubber tail/s will still have an enticing swimming action. The main advantage of being able to fish these lures slowly is that it means that you keep your lure in the strike zone for longer Fishing with these lures requires the angler to work the lure slowly back towards them with short sharp twitches of the rod tip allowing the lure to settle each time before another twitch of the rod tip is made. Soft plastics are also great for fishing around snags as their single hook doesnÕt become snagged in the timber as often as lures with trebles.

Metal Lures

Designed to imitate baitfish these lures are ideal for fishing off the rocks and beaches as they are usually quite aerodynamic and heavy for their size which makes them ideal for casting long distances.

Swimming actions on metal lures vary from strong swaying actions through to little or no action at all. They are ideal for many species especially fast moving pelagic fish such as tailor, salmon, queenfish, mackeral and all tuna species just to name a few.

When using metal lures different retrieve speeds will appeal to different fish for example a slow to medium retrieve speed is very effective on tailor, trevally and salmon while a very fast retrieve is better for catching tuna, mackeral and queenfish.

Australia has great beaches offering anglers a huge range of species to catch. Beach fishing can be a daunting affair when deciding where to fish, as a lot of areas donÕt hold or attract fish. What you need to look for is commonly known as a gutter. These run along various parts of the beach and are best distinguished by darker deep looking water, where the waves break on the ocean side of the gutter and usually don't break again until they are across the gutter and closer to shore.

Gutters vary in size, shape and the distance that they are offshore, the best possible way of finding one is from a high vantage point such as a sand dune, from here the gutters will stand out clearly. These gutters are where the fish will move into to feed and seek shelter. The best times to fish these areas is around dawn and dusk and or a run in tide, once again berley will improve your results
An excellent collection of fishing tricks, fishing tactics, and fishing tips for bass, and much, much more! Catch more bass with these fishing tips.

As you clock more and more bass fishing hours you will acquire a knack for choosing the right lure and technique for the right situation. The best advice is to examine the fishing conditions, ask for guidance from anglers familiar with the waters you are fishing, and, finally, to try many different lures and bass fishing techniques until you discover what works most effectively.

Of course the real reason why we all enjoy fishing is the fun and camaraderie we experience with our friends and family. Some of the best fishing stories have nothing to do with how many fish were caught or what bait or technique was used. Use these fishing tips for bass to make those times more enjoyable.

Some Exciting And Helpful Ice Fishing Tips For Perch

Ice Fishing
Blatantly starting off with the first fact of freshwater perch fish, these species are abundantly found in the North American region and have 165 sub-species in its category. They are freshwater fish found in rivers, streams and also in some Canadian lakes. Yellow perches are usually the ones that are spotted in the NA lakes and thus are called lake perches. It is mostly during the winter season when the activity of ice fishing for yellow or white perches gets exciting. Sometimes many anglers manage to catch jumbo perches as well. You too, should definitely go for ice fishing and fetch a few perches for yourself! Moreover these species aren't very big in size and they tend to team up in winter seasons. So that is the best time you can try your luck on the ice and gear and fetch a school of them for a good meal! To become a successful angler all you need to have is some handy tips and along with that some know-how on the gear techniques to get a fish bite your bait!

Perch Ice Fishing Techniques and Tips
  • Perch fish generally swim at the bottom of a freshwater body. Hence bottom of a river can be a great spot to fish for them if you really have excellent angling skills to go about doing this task.
  • If you can prepare the perch baits in minnows, cut the heads and tails of the minnows and feed them to the perch. They will dole out to be a great bite for them.
  • Big size perch fish swim in dense waters, whereas ones which are small-sized swim in shallow waters. So once you have prepared the bait, depending on the location you are situated at, dip your bait deep down into the bottom of the water or let it remain floating on the surface.
  • Today many anglers have advanced equipment and make use of electronics like GPS systems and sonar systems to check the spots for perch fish beneath the thick ice layers. Some people have even come up with their own techniques of using underwater cameras for perch fishing.
  • Perch fish are very aggressive and finicky when it comes to eating habits and hence they take a while to adjust towards eating the bait that has been offered. The best way to know when they calm down is to be patient and observant till you are rewarded with a big meal on your hook for which you will feel happy about.
  • Another tip to share regarding perch fishing is to at least carry more than 2 sets of fishing rods equipped with different lures. Make sure one of the rod is a plain hook and has some weight attached to it. This method is called jigging, wherein, one of the rod is used to bring the perch close to the bait and the other rod attached with minnow as a bait is used to distract the fussy and picky fish around.
  • Under the subject of yellow perch ice fishing tips, make sure you utilize hooks which have a sharp needle-like appearance. It is important because when the perches bite the bait they can easily get nicked to the hooks only because they are sharp and pointed.
  • Another technique you can implement is to drill holes in the layer of ice but in a zig-zag pattern. This will give you more space and time to fish for the school of perches instead of sitting around one drilled hole and waiting for those shy creatures to angle your lure.
Some Other Ways to Ice Fish Perch

Although fishing for a perch with the right line and gear sounds very pleasing, remember when it comes to ice fishing no fish literally comes to the hook all by themselves. To be smart and find your catch right beneath that thick layer of ice, you surely will need some real tips and some crucial techniques too. So have a look at them below.

Locate their Move!
Finding the location of perch fish is the biggest task. For that you need to study their environmental behavior. Like for instance, with the changing weather, perch changes it's location from one place to another. So if you fish for them in the shallow weeds where the ice isn't too much, you will not have to spend a lot of time looking out for them. In such a case, going in an early winter season is a good idea.

Perches tend to move to deep waters in mid-winters and again in late winter and spring times; all the shoals move to dark bottom bays and spawning areas. So these are the perfect places you can drill perch holes in the ice and sit around fishing for a good lot!

Jigging for a Catch
Well when it comes to perch fish, the two most important things to note is the location for fishing and the presentation needed while you drop the lure. Jigging happens to be the best presentation for a school of perches that too during an ice fishing season. Are you wondering what jigging is? In simple words, it's a way to make your fishing rod dance. When you drop your lure in the water, raise it after every 5 to 10 seconds which will stimulate the moves of a bait fish. This is a very common presentation and works quite often while ice-fishing for perch.

Just one last quickie I wish to add to the list of perch fishing tips; always remember that perch are a good catch during daylight hours and are rarely found during the night. But the best way to capture them is to have a good presentation, an excellent location and last but not the least, great equipment and delicious-luring bait! Enjoy Fishing!!

Have A Great Time Fishing For Carp Fish

Carp Fishing
Carp is a common name given to a number of species of fish that vary widely in size and appearance. Most of the fishes belonging to this type are freshwater fishes, which means that they are found in lakes, rivers, ponds and other water bodies. A particular species of carp that we are all familiar with is the goldfish (Carassius auratus), an ornamental species found in aquariums. However, not all types of carps are that small and a big carp can weigh as much as 17 kg.

Did you know that the carp is not native to North America? This exotic species of fish, native to parts of Asia and Europe, was brought in from Europe during the late nineteenth century and released into several water bodies in North America to promote carp fishing as a sport. This endeavor was successful as today it has grown to be one of the most popular sports in the United States. Carp fishing is also popular in countries like Canada and Mexico and in other parts of Central America.

Carp Fishing Tips for Beginners
Research well to locate the water bodies where you are most likely to find a good catch. Before you visit a lake, river or any other water body, try to find as much information about it as possible.

Carp is a fish that is easily tempted by the bait and bites into it in no time but if it doesn't like what it bites into, chances are high that it would immediately spit it out. The trick to catch carp is to design the bait in such a way that once the fish bites into the bait, it is unable to free itself from it.

A great way to improve your chances of a catch is to pre-bait the area prior to fishing. Pre-baiting is nothing but introducing a few particles of the bait that you intend to use for fishing, in the area you want to fish. For example, if you are fishing using creamed corn as bait, then you can throw a few pieces of the corn on the water surface for a few days before the day you wish to go fishing. This technique helps because the fish begin to recognize the particular area where you spread the bait as a feeding area and so on the day you are fishing, they are less likely to think twice before biting into the bait that you have attached to the rig.

While fishing for carp, remember to use different types of baits such as corn, dough balls, worms, cheese, bread pieces or even homemade carp bait recipes can do the trick. You can even use bait flavors available in the market. A good idea is to dip the bait in orange juice because carps love the flavor. Also, using bright-colored baits can often help as it attracts the carp.

An important factor to consider while fishing for a big fish such as carp is the size and strength of the rod. Use a rigid rod that is made of a strong and durable material and is capable of supporting a minimum weight of 50 pounds.

Remember that carps are clever and so to outsmart them, you need to be clever too! Also, when it comes to rigs, using a hair rig is best recommended as it prevents the fish from spitting the bait, after it has been swallowed. Choose baits that are devoid of barbs to prevent the fish from spitting it out.

An interesting fact about carps is that unlike most other species of fish that are caught by a bait that is submerged in water, carps are caught by baits that float on the surface of water. This is because in nature, carps feed near the surface of water. Also, to make the bait appear as natural as possible, it is recommended that you use baits of different sizes. This way you can attract more fish.

Before you cast the hook for fishing, throw a few pieces of bait on the water surface to attract fish. Once the fish begin to show up and start feeding on the bait, it's time for you to cast the hook. However, remember not to cast the hook exactly at the spot where the fish are feeding as this might scare them. Instead, cast the hook a little distance away from the feeding area and then slowly bring it in place.

To know the exact spot where you have immersed the fishing line, attach a float to it. A float is made from a light material and floats on the water surface.

Once you have made a successful catch in a particular area, carefully make note of the exact spot so that you can come back for more fishing. This also applies if you have pre-baited an area.

If you land up with a big carp and find it difficult to handle, just use a dark-colored cloth to cover its eyes.

It is recommended that you wear gloves before removing the fish from the hook. Also, if you are fishing carp just for fun and do not intend to eat them, then release them carefully back into the water.

If you are truly serious about carp fishing, then it is best that you arrange for a boat and use it to try your luck on territories that others haven't been to before instead of fishing only from the banks of the river.

This was all about some carp fishing tactics and tricks for beginners. Hope you find them useful in landing a good catch on your next fishing trip. Good luck and have fun!

A New Type Of Fishing Tools

The rise of fishfinders chartplotters has definitely brought changes to the way people catch fish. Before, fishermen relied only on clues that the water and the world gave them in finding a good place where they could go fishing. But now, high tech fish-finders like e.g. the humminbird 798c or the raymarine a70d have brought more excitement and fun to fishing adventures, providing anglers with more information about what's beneath the water.

A kind of fathometer, a fishfinder is a specialized type of echo sounding system that makes use of active sonar to detect fish and the surface and displays them on a CRT or LCD screen. This technology, which can also measure the depth of the water, generally works by converting an electrical impulse coming from a transmitter into a sound waves and sending the waves into the water. Once the sound waves hit something, they are reflected back and show the size, shape and composition of the object. The power and frequency of the transmitted pulse determine the correct extent of what can be detected.

Fishfinders normally come with a "Fish Symbol" feature; this displays a FISH symbol for any echo not attached to the surface or bottom. More specialized fishfinders have the capability to detect living or even dead fish thanks to a detection of a special type of fingerprint in echosignals.

If the Fish Symbol feature is disabled, anglers can learn to differentiate fish, debris, schools of forage fish or baitfish, or vegetation, among other things. Fish normally appears on the screen as an arch due to the changes in the distance between the transducer (the device that changes electrical impulse into sound waves), as the fish swims underneath the boat or as the boat passes over them. A display pixel will be turned on once the fish goes through the sonar beam's leading edge. The pixels are turned on at shallower depths when the fish swims in the direction of the beam center. Deeper pixels will be shown if the distance between the fish and transducer increases, while thicker line will be displayed if the fish is closer to the boat.

With the displayed images on the screen, anglers can identify ideal targets and lower their lures or baits to the right depth. The display on the screen allows them to differentiate between the fish they are aiming at and the bait fish.

Fishfinders came to existence after the integration between fathometers and CRTs for commercial fishing. Nowadays, there are a few big players in the fishfinder manufacturing game, namely Humminbird, Raymarine, or Garmin (GPS). Fishfinding fathometers eventually hit the sporting market thanks to the high power requirements of CRT brought about by the advent of huge LCD arrays. Currently, sporting fishfinders do not yet have a permanent record of the large ship navigation fathometer, which is only available in high end units.

Best Pike Fishing Techniques Are Going To Come To A Naught

Want to get a spike in your pike fishing endeavor? Well, obviously you just cannot go there and expect to catch how much ever fish you want, right by just putting the bait! For getting a good catch, you need a lot of things going in for you. Along with correct fishing, you need good baits and lures and loads of patience. Pike fishing is nothing different. Pike, as most of you might be knowing is a brackish and freshwater fish from the northern hemisphere and it is carnivorous. Akin to let's say bass fishing or trout fishing, pike fishing or northern pike fishing too, needs specific pike fishing techniques. Chances of a good catch increase if special pike fishing tips and techniques are used.

Northern Pike Fishing Techniques

Fishing techniques for pikes vary according to the season and the area where they are found, which is mostly near weedy waters. So, there are different techniques used when fishing for pike in summer and different techniques used when fishing for pike in fall.

Early Bird Season Techniques
By early bird season, I mean that it is the time when winter has got over, but the water is still cold from winter. At this time, the pikes are not as active and aggressive as they are in warm water periods. So to take things slowly, rather than large crank baits or spoons, using a 1/8 oz or 1/4 oz jig tipped with a sucker minnow or twister tail will be a good idea. Moreover, fishing on drop offs close to weed beds will be perfect. You can also consider setting a large sucker minnow or two beneath the bobber.

Plugging the Pike
When it comes to pike fishing, all types of plugs are useful. Shallow plugs, surface plugs, medium to deep divers and shallow running plugs. Shallow running minnow style plugs for pike are good, but there are other options too, like larger minnow shaped plugs (which are used for striper and muskie trolling) are great for catching pike, when it comes to both casting and trolling applications.

You Fall or Pike Falls?
Fishing with jugs tipped with minnows reasonably deep is one of the useful late fall pike fishing techniques. This is because the fish have slowed down their activity. In addition to this, fishing about 3 feet or less from the bottom will do the trick and you will catch the bait! When it is just the onset of fall, the pike is at the peak of its activity. In such a season, as per the pike fishing techniques, you can use large crank baits, spinners and spinner baits. For casting the crank bait, slowly drift along the shoreline. Don't forget to cast as you drift!

Rod with the Pike
Talking of pike fishing tips and techniques, another effective technique for catching pike is to ensure that the fishing rod has medium to medium heavy action. In case you are casting or trolling, a rod that can handle a heavy lure will be required.

Pike Fishing Tips

Pike fishing techniques cannot be replete without some quick, 'alluring' fishing tips and tricks to ensure that the rod doesn't remain in the water sans any catch. Take a look at some tips.
  • The best time to catch pike is either early morning, early evening or just prior to a rain storm.
  • Just by varying your pike fishing technique and method, you can get a nice catch.
  • Avoid using the same bait and the same kind of lure.
  • If you get a pike on your bait and it goes off or fiddles with it, have patience, it will come back. They play with the bait.
Last, but not the least, when you go pike fishing, make sure you are fishing in the right area and that is where pike is! Otherwise, even the best pike fishing techniques are going to come to a naught! That was all about pike fishing tips and techniques! Have I 'lured' you enough into pike fishing! All the best!

Salmon Fishing Tips For Catching This Magnificent Fish

Salmon fishing is an exciting and rewarding task, provided that you understand the tips for salmon fishing. Whether you are going for recreational fishing or eating purpose, salmon fishing tips will be of great help for getting them in your hook. The two most important factor for catching salmon are the time spent for fishing and the fishing techniques. Spending time in the water without proper knowledge about salmon fishing is not enough for catching them. Let's take a brief look about salmon fishing tips, which you can apply during fishing trips.

Tips for Salmon Fishing

If you are fishing salmon for eating purpose, check out fishing places where you can take the caught salmon. Otherwise, if you catch salmon in the restricted areas, then you have to release the fish back into the water. As far as salmon fishing tips and tricks are concerned, you can get information from various resources. Tips for fishing salmon vary depending upon where you are fishing, either saltwater or freshwater. Following are some of the effective salmon fishing tips and tricks for either of the two fishing areas:

Fishing Gear: Depending upon your fishing group and number of salmon that you want to catch, you can prepare salmon fishing gears such as poles, lines and fishing lures. For catching many salmon fish, you can consider using a planer board on a boat, so that you can set many fishing lines at a time. Don't forget to sharpen the hook, so that it protrudes deep into the thick jaws of salmon.

Salmon Fishing Time: Plan your fishing time in the morning or evening, as salmon prefers low light conditions. Though daytime salmon fishing is also possible, the chances of hooking them are less. The best salmon fishing time is cloudy days, when many salmon fish swim together. In case of harsh sunny days, they stay deep in the bottom of the water, which in turn becomes difficult to hook them.

Locating Salmon Fish: Tracking salmon position is one of key tips to successful fishing. Salmon thrives in cool habitats where there is clear and oxygenated water. It also like the areas where there is vegetation. At any point of time, throw the line in the area where you spot salmon, rather than taking chances in other places.

Salmon Fishing Technique: Another important salmon fishing tip is applying the right technique. While putting the fishing line in the water, make sure to set it in downstream water. If bait fishing is allowed in the area where you are fishing, then it is the best technique to catch salmon. In order to imitate a live herring, ensure that the fishing line is deep inside the water. Fly fishing is another option for catching salmon, particularly if you are not in a group.

Follow the above tips for fishing salmon. Once you feel the salmon's pull, you can draw the fishing line immediately to catch salmon. If you locate a hole with many salmon fish, you can enjoy catching them the whole day. You can also take the advice from a fisherman about the various salmon fishing tips. After a salmon is hooked, kill it with one blow and store it. You can preserve salmon in the refrigerator for about two days. Once you have finished salmon fishing, cook them in your traditional styles and enjoy different mouth-watering salmon recipes like smoked salmon recipes or canned salmon recipes.

Different Types Of Fishing Tackles For You

Fishing is an industry and sport like no other and best described first hand. The equipment and gear are very different and the different types of fishing tackles used are game specific.
What is a saltwater fishing tackle?

A saltwater fishing tackle is the equipment used to catch fish at sea. The gear is essential to fishermen who operate on a commercial level and also by 'sport' fisherman. The term enjoys the etymology that implies 'apparatus for fishing'. It is also recorded as the 'act of tackling', more in the sport sense. In the broader sense a saltwater fishing tackle is almost any equipment or gear used by a fisherman to catch fish. It is attached to the end of the fishing line and includes hooks, leaders and swivels. Saltwater fishing tackles also include lures or bait, leaders, rods, trawls, traps and floats and even harpoons.

The saltwater fishing hook:

The fish hook basically impales the fish in the mouth or snags the body of the fish. This saltwater fishing tackle has been employed for centuries to catch saltwater fish and in fact, it features as 'one of the top twenty tools in the history of man'! Fish hooks are attached to the line and there are a variety of fish hooks in the world. They differ according to size, shape, design and material. Although the intended purpose of the fish hook is obvious, these saltwater fishing tackles are also designed to hold various types of artificial and dead or live baits or to be integrated into other devices.

The saltwater fishing plummet or sinker:

This saltwater fishing tackle is a weight! It is an attachment used to sink a bait more rapidly. This is done with the intent to increase the distance at which it is cast. The saltwater fishing plummet is made of lead. It is shaped like a pipe-stem, swelling at the center. The design includes loops of wire on either end, to attach to the rod or line. The weight or this saltwater fishing plummet or sinker is around a couple of pounds or more for sea bass and much lesser in the case of trout. However, the use of lead based sinkers are now being banned due to the fear of toxic lead poisoning observed among waterbirds and other aquatic organisms.

The swivel sinker:

The swivel sinker has loops instead of loops on each end. This feature prevents twisting and tangling and the device is a must in trolling. A variant is the slide sinker that is used for 'bottom fishing'. The slide sinker allows the line to slip through the tube when the fish bites. This saltwater fishing sinker works very well, since the fisherman can feel even the smallest bite. Split shots are also used, especially in the case of trout fishing, instead of a sinker and independent swivels do well to prevent entanglement of the fishing line.

The fishing reel:

A fishing reel is probably the most traditional fishing equipment or device. It is basically employed for retrieval of the line and catch, via the design that includes a spool and axle. The optimized use of the saltwater fishing reel is seen in angling, a purely recreational sport. The reel is an attachment to the fishing rod. It is usually used in conjunction, but there are special varieties that are mounted directly to the gunwales. This saltwater fishing tackle is most observed in Chinese paintings and records that date back to approximately 1195 A.D! George Snyder of Kentucky is credited with the invention of the popular bait casting design.

Downriggers:

The saltwater fishing downrigger is used by trolling. The device is designed to place a lure at a desired and pre determined depth. A downrigger design comprises a large weight suspended from a rod-like device. A stainless steel cable is used for suspending the weight. The operation involves the bait being attached to the downrigger wire. The reel holds the bait and the wire together.

The saltwater fishing tackles serve different purposes and are personal preferences of the fishermen. They allow the optimized use of the bait and vessel, with the help of the designs that fit in different situations.

Fishing is considered a national pastime in United States. Many people took up fishing as a fun and tranquil sport that allow them to spend some quiet time with their friends and family.

Here are things you should know if you are considering taking fishing as your favorite pastime.
I was looking for good metaphors related to Recruitment and Employer Branding recently. I considered using a metaphor about hunters and farmers for this purpose. For example talking about variation in crops, planting, watering, fertilizing, amount of sunlight, harvesting, etc.

But it is really striking how good an analogy can be made between Recruitment and Sport Fishing. Actually almost every sport fishing advice can be transfered to recruitment! So, here are some useful fishing tips:
  1. There are many different kinds of fish. Like fish on the bottom or fish that lives just below the surface. They all need a different approach (active or passive), food and hook. Therefore, first choose the type of fish you want to catch before you choose the right materials.
  2. A good strategy and preparation is important. Start one week in advance of arrival with feeding. It spoils the fish that way and tempts them to come back to the fishing spot. You’ll much more successful when you go fishing.
  3. Choose a good spot and make sure there are fish. If there is no fish, you catch nothing. Ask local fishermen or fishmongers.
  4. Change also regular your fishing pond. Feeding or fishing more does not help. Moreover, the variation in fish is greater if you go in different places.
  5. Watch the weather forecast. At high air pressure many insects come loose, at low air pressure this much less so. Fishing just after some bad weather is also a good period because there is much food in the water.
  6. Pay attention to the sun and wind. This determines where the food has drifted.
  7. Do not go puddle in the fishpond. You drive the fish away and never come back.
  8. Go fish actively. Change your fishing spot every half hour after you’ve caught nothing. It may take a while before they bite but that is part of fishing.
  9. The bigger the bait, the bigger the fish.
  10. Try to vary with bait. There are many different types of baits to choose from. Sometimes one bait works better than another and it may vary by fishpond.
  11. Use food to lure fish. Food ingredients must always be specifically tailored to a particular fish.
  12. Don’t feed fish too much. Fish do not eat when they are filled with food and they lose interest in the bait.
  13. If you want to catch big fish, food with a strong color contrast, relative to the color of the soil, is suitable. It generally keeps the smaller fish, and thus predators, away of the feeding place.
  14. Keep a finger on the line so you feel it when there is a bite. And when they bite it is important that you take quick action to hook them.
  15. Don’t bring in the fish too slow because then it will slip off the hook. Most fish escape because the fishing line is taken slack!
  16. Hold the fish firmly as it can be very slippery. A fishnet is effective for this purpose. Remove the hook asap to minimize the trauma and restore the fish back into the water.
  17. Rinse off your fishnet with fresh water when you finished your day, to avoid unpleasant odors.
  18. Don’t leave any litter or fishing line behind on your location. Our children should also be able to fish.
  19. If you want to keep the fish, create the right environment otherwise the fish dies.
Happy fishing!

Effective Fishing Tips For Catching

Best Fishing Trip With Your Group In 10 Easy Steps

It is every fishing hobbyist's dream to have the biggest catch during a fishing trip. They would go all the way to researching the best gear, the best bait, and even the best season to plan this very momentous trip. Now Alaska would not be known for the great king salmon for nothing. But then what exactly are the "basics" that need to be brought when one is to have fishing trips to Alaska? Here are the things you need to remember when you finally decide to take that adventure of a lifetime.

1. What are your fishing priorities?
Identifying your priorities is one of the first things you must do to plan a great fishing trip. Just saying you want great fishing is not good enough; you need to be more specific. Great fishing may be perceived differently by each person in your fishing party. One person might be happy with catching 15 fish per day, while another might be expecting 25 fish per hour. So, you need to decide this up front.

2. What type of fish do you want to catch?
While this may seem obvious, it is something that needs to be discussed. One person may want to fish for Grouper and Snapper, while others may want to go bass fishing. Since Grouper and Snapper are salt water fishes, this will really disappoint the bass fisherman as bass are fresh water fishes.

3. What is the weight of the fishing line you be using?
Depending on the type and the size of fish you want to catch you will buy the fishing line of the right weight. If the line is too light, it will snap when the fish is 'fighting' with you when it gets hooked or when you haul onto dry land
4. What is the mode of your fishing trip?
Some anglers simply enjoy catching many fish (most any size) hoping to get a few big ones. Other fishermen prefer to catch the biggest fish they can find through minimizing the number of fish caught. You need to decide which is more important to your fishing group... many fish that are not the biggest or less fish which gives a greater chance of a huge one. It should be noted that there are many places where you can do both... catch lots of fish and get some big ones.

5. What is the technique used when you fish?
Do you like to troll? Or drift? Fish in ponds? Deep sea fish? We have witness people wading in 50 feet of water thinking the fish were only a few centimeters from the surface. Unlikely to catch anything this way. Be sure you know the type of fishing your group prefers and that the lake/pond/sea will offer it.

6. Do you need other accessories for fishing?
If you prefer to have your line deep under water, it will be advisable to get a sinker. If you prefer your line not deep under water, a normal size float will be sufficient. If you going to do spinning then you have to look at various fly tackles.

7. What will you do with the fish after it is caught?
Do you want to cook the fish and have a delicious meal with your family or continue to rear it in your fish tank? Some people let the fish go when they are not the recommended size for capture.

8. How long is this fishing trip?
If you fish in the fishing pond there will be a fixed number of hours where you can spend at the ponds. Typically the pond operates two sessions, the day (e.g. 8am-8pm) and the night session (e.g. 8pm-8am). If you rent a fishing boat and go out sea fishing, you will typically spend two-three days on the boat. Make sure you bring with you sufficient fishing equipment, food and drinks and bathing products.

9. How much are you willing to spend for this fishing trip?
Depending on how much you pay will definitely impact on the type of fishing trip you'll have. Be honest. How much do you really want to spend? Are you comfortable renting a fishing boat for great sea fishing? Or would you prefer just to fish in a neighbourhood fishing pond or reservoir?

10. What is the weather going to be like?
Check out the news for the weather forecasts for the next few days. You wouldn't want bad weather to dampen your well planned fishing trip.

So, if you really want to have a fabulous fishing trip, get started by planning just exactly what you want out of the trip and how much you are willing to spend. Do this right and you can have the fishing trip of a lifetime. I hope the above 10 tips will help your greatly.

Some Tips For River Fishing

River fishing can be a very comforting and relaxing way to pass time, but the ultimate aim is to actually catch something. If you are a beginner at river fishing, here are some common river fishing tips that will help make the task easier for you.

For a person setting out to go fishing it is necessary to have a plan of how to go about the process. River fishing tips must be gathered and studied beforehand, as the best anglers are not those who simply jump into the best spot, but those who have a systematic and well informed plan of action that they follow while going river fishing. The river fishing tips mentioned here are applicable for small streams and rivers, and the most important thing that an individual needs, while carrying out this task, is patience. Getting impatient and frustrated will get you nowhere.

Different rivers require different strategies depending on their size and the variety of fish that are present there. Many beginners often ignore the importance of strategizing and feel that, if they simply sit on the river bank or wade through it with a fishing rod, they will catch all they want. Some people may be lucky enough to have success with this trial and error method, but the best anglers are those who lay a detailed plan and strategy into place and then follow it. This is where the many river fishing tips and tricks come in handy.

Tip # 1 - Tread SkillfullyIf the river you are in requires you to wade through it, as most rivers certainly will, you need to learn how to tread lightly. Sounds can travel a great distance under the water surface, and the slightest sound you make may inadvertently end up scaring the fish. Scan the area you are going to cover beforehand, and then ensure that you do not step on many sticks and rocks on the river bed. Take one step at a time, and take it as slowly and steadily as possible.

Tip # 2 - TimingThe timing of going fishing is also of prime importance. This is one of the first river fishing tips for beginners that you will see everywhere. The fish move around a lot and there are specific conditions of weather and the moon's position that help in determining their movement. You need to be at the best places at the best times, and this can only be achieved by studying the habitat and the nature of the fish that are present in that river. There is no point standing in the water for hours on end when the fish are more likely to be elsewhere.

Tip # 3 - Know the TerritoryThe next natural thing that you also need to be aware of are the various sections in the river. The current plays an integral part in the migration of the fish, and the more you know about this, the higher will be your chances of catching more game. Rivers are divided into little pockets or sections depending on the flow of the current, and these can be used to the advantage of anglers.

Tip # 4 - Presenting the Live BaitIt is fair to say that anyone who goes river fishing will be using live baits, as this is the best option. Now the presentation of the live bait is very important in determining the reactions of the fish. The more realistic you make it look, the better your chances. Gang hooks are the best choice of hooks for achieving this purpose, as these add a very natural and realistic look to your bait. Bounce your bait off the floor of the river at regular intervals to make a better impression.

Tip # 5 - Deep Analysis!Once all these tips on river fishing have been followed, you need to search for deeper parts of the river to fish. You will find the biggest congregations of fish in the deeper areas, especially if the climate is warm. If you do not know this you may end up wasting a majority of your time wading through shallow areas and this could ultimately turn out to be useless. There will be plenty of edges and riffles under the surface of the river where you will find the most fish.

One of the most important things about river fishing is to find the areas, where the fish are most likely to be. based on the deepness and the weather, and to go fishing at a time when the fish are most active. The experienced anglers will always give you river fishing tips regarding these two factors mainly, and everything else will simply depend on your luck. But by remembering these pointers, the probability of you making a good catch increase considerably.
